Our new favorite Apple Laptop!

Apple M5 Chip

M5 is an incredibly powerful Apple silicon chip. The CPU and GPU work together with unified memory to give you phenomenal speed and capability. A Neural Accelerator in each GPU core, along with a 16‑core Neural Engine, brings even more power to on‑device AI.

You can choose between two M5 chip configurations for this MacBook Air. Both are fast and capable, with a 10-core CPU and a 16-core Neural Engine.

The difference is in the number of GPU cores. One chip has an 8-core GPU, while the other has a 10-core GPU.

Unified Memory

Memory stores data temporarily, keeping the files and apps you’re running open and available.

M-series chips include unified memory, which is more efficient than traditional RAM. It allows apps to efficiently share data between the CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine — so everything you do is fast and fluid. The more memory you have, the more apps you can run simultaneously, the larger the AI models you can use, and the better everything will perform.

Unified memory is not user accessible. If you think you’ll need additional memory, upgrading at purchase is recommended.

Storage

Mac uses fast SSD storage for your apps, documents, photos, movies, music, and other files and libraries.

How much storage you need depends on how you use your Mac. The more storage you have, the more files your Mac can hold and the faster it can access them when needed. A good way to figure out your storage needs is to check how much you’re using on your current computer. If you’re near your limit, it’s a good idea to consider a larger capacity.

Storage can’t be upgraded later. If you think you’ll need additional storage in the future, upgrading at purchase is recommended.
